Accessible Geographic Information System (GIS) Applications

By working with cartographers and online mapping specialists, and by using our own website design and software development experience, Communis continues work towards a fully accessible GIS front-end. Our first implementation of this, the WebSMURF system for the SMURF project, uses the latest Flash scalable vector and access technologies to enable users with vision and/or motor impairments to elegantly interact with it, while improving the user experience for all users.

Community Involvement for All

Communis’ groundbreaking community involvement tool Communicant is under development. The tool combines best-practice accessibility with the latest thinking in peer-facilitated discussion and decision-making. A new generation of public consultation tool, for a new generation of public consultation.

Accessible Search Engine

Wouldn't it be great to be able to filter inaccessible websites from search results? Communis is working on just such a widget.
